le parc de la Gravette
We would like to take this opportunity to share with you the history of the renovation of the agricultural domain of la Gravette into a reception property. It is also the opportunity for us to thank all those who have contributed and keep contributing to the multiples works at la Gravette.
La Gravette

La Gravette

We have acquired the domain of La Gravette in February 2001, looking specifically in this area as this is where our family is from. We fell in love with this little village of La Gravette, its main house, its outbuildings, its barn, its bread oven and its 9 ha of surroundings.

Beginning of the renovation

Beginning of the renovation

A long period of work started: drainage around the different buildings, repair of the roofs, prunning of the trees, renovation of the stone walls, cleaning of the surroundings. While removing a bush of ivy, we discovered the foundations of this well, and we restored it to its originial shape.

The terrace and the park

The terrace and the park

We have created and built the large terrace over the park, by recyling the stones from an old pigpen. It was originally situated where the grass area is on the side of the stabble. The park has been redesigned and several trees have been moved closer to the surrounding walls.

The stabble

The stabble

We started working on the stabble in order to organize a family wedding at la Gravette. This building was in a very bad shape and was still used to protect different agricultiral engines. Some horse stalls and a hay attic were also included.

Two years of work

Two years of work

Two years of work were needed to clean the surroundings and renovate the wood structure. To close the stabble, we chose to add a wood panel with a large door, very common in the "marais poitevin" area. Finally, we built three doors on the other side to open the stabble towards the park and the courtyard.

The recognition

The recognition

In 2009, the domain of La Gravette received the ERP label and could officially open its door to the public. It was followed by the renovation of the guest house to provide lodging on site, the renovation of the caterer kitchen, and the progressive purchase of the equipment for the reception room.
